NSC is a member of the DELAWARE STATE SPORTSMEN'S ASSOCIATION.
MISSION STATEMENT: The mission and purpose of the Nanticoke Sportsmens Club (NSC) is to foster, expand and perpetuate the practice of the outdoor sports and the spirit of good fellowship among all Sportsmen. It is to teach and encourage the safe use of firearms and bows and to encourage their safe use in the sport of hunting and recreational shooting. It is to cooperate with local, state and federal conservation organizations in the promotion of conservation of our natural resources.
GUN HANDLING RULES:
1. ALWAYS POINT THE MUZZLE IN A SAFE DIRECTION.
2. KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER, and outside the trigger guard, until ready to fire or until the command Commence Firing has been given.
3. KEEP THE ACTION OPEN AND FIREARMS UNLOADED UNTIL READY TO USE. On a firing range this means the shooters are in position on the firing line and the range has been cleared for live firing.
4. KNOW HOW THE FIREARM OPERATES.
5. WHEN SHOOTING MORE THAN ONE FIREARM, MAKE SURE THE CORRECT AMMUNITION IS BEING USED.
6. BE SURE OF THE TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE BULLET AND EVERYTHING IT TOUCHES. Be mindful of adjacent ranges and act accordingly.
7. WEAR EYE AND EAR PROTECTION. This also applies to visitors on or near the firing line.
8. DO NOT MIX ALCOHOL OR DRUGS WITH SHOOTING ACTIVITIES. NANTICOKE SPORTSMEN'S CLUB, INC. DOES NOT ALLOW CONSUMPTION OF ALCOHOL ON THE PREMISES.
9. BE AWARE THAT CERTAIN CIRCUMSTANCES MAY REQUIRE ADDITIONAL RULES.
GENERAL RANGE RULES:
A. Know and obey all Range rules.
B. Know where other shooters and observers are at all times.
C. Shoot at ONLY authorized targets. Metal beverage cans or glass medium of any kind is forbidden as a target.
D. Ground level targets are NOT authorized without proper backstop. Maintain the proper target height to ensure that the fired projectile, after passing through the target, hits the desired portion of the backstop. This will reduce the possibility of ricochets and projectiles escaping the range or property.
E. Designate a range safety officer when none is present or assigned.
F. Unload, open the action, remove the magazine and ground or bench all firearms during a Cease Fire.
G. Do NOT handle any firearm or stand at the firing line where firearms are present while others are down range.
H. Always keep the muzzle pointed at the back stop or bullet trap. Never allow the muzzle to point in any direction whereby an inadvertent discharge would allow the escape of a projectile into an outer area.
I. No incendiary ammunition is to be fired, discharged or shot on NSC property.
J. Firearms are to be discharged only on the firearm ranges. NO firearms are to be discharged on any archery range. (Exception : Indoor Archery taking place on the indoor handgun range. Only one discipline can use the range at any given time.)
K. LEAD ammunition is the ONLY approved ammunition allowed on the Cowboy Range. NOT APPROVED for use is steel shot, full metal jacket bullets or plated bullets. Cowboy Range is to be used during competition only.
L. HOURS OF OPERATION. There will be no discharge of firearms before NINE (9) AM in the morning. Evening activities that involve the discharge of a firearm should be concluded by sunset. Exception: Club sponsored activities and the indoor range.
M. HOUSEKEEPING is your responsibility. Remove all old/used targets after use. Dispose of empty cartridge boxes or take them home with you. Leave your range clean.
N. NSC endeavors to be a GOOD NEIGHBOR. It is important that we are seen as a responsible community oriented organization. When entering or leaving NSC property, be sure to secure the gate(s) and that the lock has been replaced. Report any equipment or property damage immediately so that it may be repaired or removed from service.
